Position Description:

The Director of Community Life (CL), Boston leads the CL strategic priorities at TCB’s Boston properties, supervising CL Service Coordinators and Managers and overseeing all aspects of Community Life operational excellence. The Director of CL, Boston collaborates with other TCB departments including Property Management, Fund Development and Real Estate Development teams and provides written and verbal content expertise in areas such as community engagement, trauma-informed practices and leadership development.

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Director of Community Life, the Director will perform the following roles and responsibilities:

• Hire, on-board, and supervise CL Service Coordinators and Managers
• Develop and monitor progress of the Community Success Plan, a one-year data-informed strategic plan outlining site priorities, strategies, and activities to implement Community Life operational excellence.
• Ensure the consistent implementation of the Housing Stabilization Standard of Practice, facilitate the integration and increased communication of the site-based teams (CL-PM) in coordination with the Regional Director of Property Operations
• In collaboration with the Director of Research and Evaluation, oversee the collection of the Community Life Questionnaire (CLQ) from 30% of the residents, and ensure that site staff is entering data into CL Connect, CL’s data management system, weekly; regular review of CL’s Power BI reports to consistently assess the strengths and needs of residents and understand and analyze patterns across the region.
• In coordination with HR, provide training, coaching and professional development opportunities for CLSCs including ongoing support, feedback and completion of annual evaluations.
• Work closely with Real Estate Development on particular redevelopment projects relating to resident/community communication, engagement and support, and trauma-informed housing policy and design.
• Lead the administration and coordination of awarded grants to ensure outcomes are met; support Fund Development in grant writing
• In coordination with Regional Directors and CL Senior Managers, implement the CL onboarding and training for all new CL employees.
• Prepare reports and present on CL progress during monthly and quarterly partners and regional meetings with TCB corporate staff as required by funders to fulfill grant commitments.
• Develop partnerships and oversee partners Memorandum of Understanding and/or Service Agreements, including exercise authority as needed to ensure that partner organizations are held accountable for high quality performance.
• Participate in professional development and training sessions conducted by TCB’s Community Life, Property Management, Development, and other departments as well as external conferences and trainings.
• Keep the Senior Director appraised of issues affecting and relating to the progress of CL strategic priorities in the region.
• Maintain required project documentation and perform other project-related duties as needed.

Education & Experience:

• B.A. required, ideally a graduate degree in social work, sociology, public policy, or a related field with 5+ year of management and industry-related experience.
• At least 4 years of experience supervising, training and coaching resident service coordinators and managing a team of individuals to accomplish common goals and objectives.
• Experience managing nonprofit partnerships and/or working with social service providers and community-based organizations on projects that require coordination among multiple agencies.
• Experience building and maintaining positive relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including but not limited to senior staff, volunteers, interns, community partners, organization donors, media.
• Demonstrated experience and expertise in using data and evaluations to inform practice and design social interventions that promote successful mixed-income communities.
• Experience with rental assisted housing and supportive services, addiction, and working with seniors and people of diverse abilities, as well as families.
• Demonstrated leadership ability and interest in motivating and energizing staff while implementing a multifaceted strategy that is being tested to refine the TCB model.
• Experience engaging, communicating and collaborating with residents of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
• Excellent organizational, communication (oral and written), and problem-solving skills.
• Strong personal initiative, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
• Entrepreneurial, creative with an interest in guiding an initiative through uncharted waters.
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and be self-directed.
• Bi-lingual/multilingual a plus.
